Urban 20 Something, Leah Gervais at Entrepreneur Event

Update from Leah

There is so much information to unpack from seeing incredible speakers this weekend and bonding with fellow entrepreneurs. I wanted to start by sharing the five biggest commonalities I saw and learned about the most successful entrepreneurs out there:

5- They have a gratitude practice and pray and/or meditate. Those that are successful have gone through just as many struggles on their path as anyone else. It’s not handed to them. But they move quickly through those challenges with a strong mindset. They keep it strong with a gratitude practice.

4- They operate with a no-excuses policy. They don’t buy the excuses of themselves or others that get in the way of doing what needs to be done. Too busy to get your work done? Delegate and stay up an extra hour. An investment too expensive? Get creative about how to sell something to find the money. There don’t see obstacles, they see opportunities.

3- They have mentors and coaches. They know that you can’t do this alone and they are more interested in finding success than pinching pennies on investing in themselves. We learned that Robin Sharma has a personal “power team” which has people holding him accountable and pushing him in his health, his relationships, his business, his finances, etc.

2- They practice what they preach. How often do we post on Instagram that life is meant to be lived to the fullest, yet in our own lives, we’re spending time playing small and holding back? How often do we give the advice to others that they should take time off and rest, yet we beat ourselves up if we don’t finish our to-do lists? We’re all only human, but the most successful make it a point to show up the way they teach their clients or customers to do so.

1- They work harder than everyone else. At the end of the day, there are SO many smart, driven entrepreneurs out there. Once you reach a certain threshold of success, it’s not about being the smartest or best, it always simply be about who works the hardest and doesn’t hold back.
