May Income Report- $57,785 as a Marketing Coach in NYC

May was a month of significant business learnings and a very full personal schedule. After April’s $62,774, this month came in at $57,785… over 10% lower than my recent average, and I’m going to be honest about why.

Two things happened.

First, I lost some focus. Some of which is a learning lesson but also some of which is purposeful. I’m building out a lot of systems within our team and AI right now, so I’m allowing my focus on sales to be a bit less than usual. It’s temporary pain for longterm gain. But I’m definitely always juggling permission to expand with AVOIDING shiny object syndrome.

Second, May was personally full in the best way. Birthdays, Mother’s Day, school winding down, a beach weekend with my family. I chose to be present for those things. I don’t regret it, but I’m naming it clearly because the income reflects that trade-off.

Here’s the full picture.

May Recap

Social Media World in Anaheim

I kicked off the month riding the high of attending Social Media World. It was genuinely one of the best professional development decisions I’ve made in years. The content, the connections, the energy… all of it. I came home buzzing with ideas, which turned out to be both a gift and a challenge. The influx of inspiration diluted my immediate focus, but I believe the groundwork I laid there will pay off well beyond a 30-day window.

In-Person Event in Columbus Circle

One of the highlights of the month was hosting an incredible group of women in Columbus Circle for a workshop covering ads, big-picture strategy, and revenue goals for the rest of the year. It was a wonderful day. What moved me most was that my clients arranged for a birthday cake to be brought out after lunch. I wasn’t expecting it. It was one of those moments that reminds you what this work is really about.

Turning 34

I celebrated my 34th birthday this month. My husband and I spent a long weekend largely offline at the beach in Florida with our boys, which was exactly what I needed. We also had a beautiful Mother’s Day and celebrated my oldest finishing his second year of preschool. May is always a full month for families and this year was no different.

Hot Mom Summer + Content Batching Webinars

I ran the second round of Hot Mom Summer this month, which was fun, though I think May is genuinely a hard time for moms to take on additional commitments. Note to self for next year. I also ran two more rounds of my popular content batching webinar, something we’ll likely repackage and sell in the future. More on that below.

May Work Insights

What Worked:
In-Person Events

I’ll keep saying this: hosting and attending in-person events is one of the highest-ROI things you can do for your business. The Columbus Circle workshop reminded me of this again. The depth of conversation, the energy in the room, the relationships built in a few hours… none of that happens on Zoom at the same level. If you’re not prioritizing in-person, I’d encourage you to reconsider.

Batching Social Media Content

I batched all of my social content for the month and spent very little time on the app as a result. My views weren’t as high as they’ve been in other months and I’m okay with that. I was present with my kids. I was focused on my clients. I enjoyed my life. There is a momentum cost to being less visible, and I’m willing to pay it in exchange for how I felt this month. I’m not here to chase the algorithm at the expense of everything else.

What didn’t work:
Shiny Object Syndrome

I let my excitement from Social Media World pull me in too many directions at once. Hot Mom Summer, new content experiments, new funnel ideas, I took on too much and didn’t execute any of it as well as I could have. This is a lesson I’ve learned before and apparently needed to relearn. Focus is the thing. A few things done well will always beat many things done halfway.

Hot Mom Summer Timing

Hot Mom Summer just doesn’t work in May. Moms are managing school schedules, end-of-year events, and the chaos of the season wrapping up. Adding a program on top of that is too much to ask. If I bring this back, it’ll be later in the summer when the dust has settled.

May Income Breakdown

May’s total was $57,785 across Stripe (primary), Stripe (secondary), and PayPal.

The bulk of this came through my services that are scalable. I don’t typically have private coaching clients so this comes from my group coaching programs and group retreats.

Passive products through my Passive Park Sales system also contributed, as they do every month. This is the part of my business I love most… income that comes in whether I’m at my desk or at the beach. If you want to learn how I built this, the playbook is free.

May was lower than my recent average and I’m naming that clearly, because that’s what these reports are for. I could smooth over the dip or bury it in positive framing.

It’s never lost on me that this is still more than a 9-5 job ever paid me.

Looking Ahead

June is a fresh month but I honestly don’t know how it will go. I’m continuing to try new things and evolve my business which is forever a risk, but I have a lot of self trust in being able to figure it out.
