The best part? Once you make a landing page, you can stick it anywhere you like. (Psst, a checklist of places to market your landing page is in my side hustler resource library- grab yours below.)

Put your landing page on your personal business card, your e-mail signature block, social media accounts, and so on. This means that you’re marketing your side hustle in your sleep. Sounds a lot better than filling out endless applications for freelance + side jobs, doesn’t it?

Returning to the tutoring example, this allows you to make one web page once and send that to potential clients, rather than filling out application upon application of the same information for tutoring jobs.

  • What landing pages are
  • How you can use them to up your side hustle
  • Platforms you can use to make landing pages

Let’s make magic.

What are landing pages?

In the most basic sense, a landing page is a webpage that someone is led to when clicking to a call-to-action. It can be built into a website or it can be its own page completely.

It’s sort of like a mini website, having only one page.

For instance, if you’re on a website and see an ad for an e-book, when you click on that ad and you “land” on a sales page for that book, that’s a landing page.

Here are some examples of my landing pages:

Landing pages are important for side hustlers because they allow us to market online, which widens our potential range of customers exponentially.

These pages place your call to action and show your audience what value you can give them (as you can see in my examples above). Then, the pages give you a place to obtain someone’s e-mail address, which allows you to communicate with them as potential customers.

Landing pages can range from very sophisticated digital marketing, including hyperlinks to digital products you sell on your website or blog, to very basic, clean pages that show you’re available to freelance or tutor, without needing to build an entire website.

Where can we use landing pages?

Landing pages are for marketing and to ignite communication between you and a potential customer. So, whatever service or product your side hustle offers would benefit from a landing page.

Landing pages can be used as extensions to your personal website, blog, online business or stand alone on their own. Below I’ll go through how to create a landing page on its own.

Services:

Freelance

Whatever your freelance specialty is, make a landing page displaying some of your work and reviews of your work. This way, when you find jobs you’re interested in, you can simply send the potential client your landing page, rather than having to fill out tedious applications each time. For example, I am a freelance writer. So, I have a landing page that shows my skills, experience, and some reviews.

Consulting

If you are already a consultant, I encourage you to create a landing page marketing your services and experience. Because consulting is such a personal interaction, I encourage your landing page to be very personal. Tell your story and build your future clients’ trust. Create a landing page selling why you are the person that can help others and start (deservingly!) make money on your skills.

Tutoring

Tutoring is one of the easiest, non-committal side hustles. If you’ve never tutored but know you could help others learn a subject, consider what you majored at in school or perhaps a language you’re fluent in. Then, create a landing page that includes your background in the subject and hopefully some experience teaching.

There are a plethora of tutoring websites and some are quite user-friendly, but they can have tedious applications. Having a landing page can take a lot of that extra work out of the equation.

Products:

A book

Books, including e-books, are one of my favorite forms of passive income.

A landing page showing your book with a brief synopsis and some fun facts about you is a great way to continue getting the word out about your book and make sales in your sleep. Your landing page can even have a link right on it to purchase your book. You create the page, spread it around, and watch your results snowball.

An e-course

Having an informative landing page will help your potential customers become, well, customers. It’s their one stop shop for an outline of your course, your expertise to teach the course, reviews (that you include!) of the course, pricing, and any other information that’s helpful to consumers when deciding to invest in a product. This takes much of the homework off their shoulders, eliminating their need to contact you about questions, contact other previous students about their experiences, and so on.

The more work you make for customers to purchase, the more likely they are to lose their momentum and move on.

Your Etsy store

Do you have a creative nature but nowhere to let it out? Do you love crafts but feel discouraged because they end up collecting dust in your house and costing extra money? Enter the wonderful world of Etsy that allows creatives to turn their hobbies into profitable businesses.

While you’ll create an account and “store” on Etsy’s site, creating a landing page can give your store its own brand and set it apart from the thousands of other Etsy stores, uninformed by Etsy’s website. It also can attract customers in a new way, rather than simply hoping people will stumble upon your Etsy store.

Where to build landing pages

There are exhaustive options on making landing pages. These are three popular, easy options that range in price, customizability, and function.

Leadpages

Leadpages is a beloved software for landing pages. It comes with a variety of premade templates for you to drag and drop your information into and make landing pages without an ounce of coding! The catch? It’s a pricey software. But, business owners rave that the price of Leadpages has reimbursed itself over and over again.

MailerLite

While not quite as sophisticated as Lead Pages, MailerLite offers customizable landing pages that are free. It’s the best.

  1. Sign up for a free MailerLite account.
  2. Create a new group under “Subscribers” where all of your inquiries for your side hustle will go. You can call it “interested clients” or something of the like.
  3. Then, go to “Webforms” and select “Add New Webform” in the top right corner. Name it! But don’t worry, the name is internal and only you will see it.
  4. Then, click “Landing Page” under the options for Webforms.
  5. Appoint the subscriber group you just made to the landing page.
  6. Choose the beautiful, pre-made template that you like. You don’t have to pick one that matches your side hustle. They’re highly customizable and you can edit the colors, images, and layout toward your side hustle.
  7. Customize your landing page however you like! Just make sure it hits all the essentials for a successful landing page. You can get that checklist below.

Page Builder by Site Origin

Page Builder is a free WordPress plugin that allows you to easily construct design on your site. This is a great option for keeping your landing page on your WordPress site and easily construct your page. I use this plugin and love it on my Side Hustler Resource Library, which you can sign up for free access to below.

What will your first landing page be?

I hope that this helped you see the potential of landing pages as marketing tools and passive advertisers for your side hustle. They’re simple and easy to create. They allow you to build a basic online resume so that you don’t have to continue to apply for jobs over and over. And, most importantly, they will help get the word out about your skills far and beyond word of mouth ever could.
