January Highlights

Overall, January was a pretty good month! Last year, I struggled with a horrible case of the winter blues—my first-trimester pregnancy symptoms rocked me, and having a toddler who napped until 4 PM (when it was already dark!) made it tough for my mental health. I typically love living in NYC for the four seasons, but for the first time, I experienced full-blown seasonal depression.

This January was MUCH better. We spent more time outside, and I much prefer having my baby here in my arms rather than in my tummy (though I did love my second and third trimesters of pregnancy). I savored the cold winter mornings in with my baby and the brisk afternoons in Central Park.

Disney World Family Trip

One of the biggest highlights of the month was our second annual family trip to Disney World! We absolutely loved it. I actually think taking a toddler to Disney is the best because everything is amazing in their eyes—no pressure about which rides to go on, no stress about long lines, and lots of enjoyable time outside. Our favorite spot? The dinosaur playground at Animal Kingdom—it was a huge hit!

Scale Your Side Hustle® Launch

We launched Scale Your Side Hustle® and welcomed an amazing new group of members! Seeing this program grow and bring in more entrepreneurs who are ready to grow to $10k months has been so rewarding.

2025 Mastermind Kickoff

My 2025 Mastermind officially kicked off, and I have a feeling this is going to be the best round yet. I love the energy and ambition this group is bringing, and I can’t wait to see the transformations over the next year!

The Four-Month Sleep Regression

Hands down, the hardest time I’ve had since my son was born. I don’t remember going through it quite like this with my first son, but this time, it was brutal. It brought on all the hardships of postpartum—depression, anger, rage, hopelessness. It lasted about three weeks, and I am SO grateful we’re on the other side of it now.

This period made it incredibly hard to show up as the mom and business owner I want to be, which is why I’m beyond thankful for my passive income systems (sign up for my upcoming passive sales class here). Without them, it would have been even more overwhelming. The ability to step back without everything coming to a halt is something I will never take for granted.

Income Breakdown

Coaching + Consulting

Total: $22,877

The highest income category is expectedly coaching and consulting work I (Leah) do with clients directly. This mostly includes coaching of my Mastermind, as well as off coaching via intensives, etc.

My Mastermind is the heart and soul of my business and it’s where I pour the most of my time and energy. It’s an amazing, intimate group of entrepreneurs and the community is unmatched. See some of their success stories here.

Passive Digital Products

Total: $10,315

Loved seeing this number go up nearly $2,000 from December’s income report! This income came from digital courses and products, and the increase of the income came from the testing + optimizing strategies I teach in my Passive Park Sales course. What makes this category so exciting is that it’s completely automated. While I was spending time with my family, these products were working for me in the background.

VIP Days

Total: $2,000

VIP Days are one of my favorite offerings because they allow me to work 1:1 with clients, delivering immense value in a short amount of time. These immersive days focus on achieving significant results for my clients, whether it’s business strategy, marketing plans, or crafting their passive income streams. I only offer a few of these a year and they’re so special.

This income category went down significantly from December, expectedly so. I didn’t sell any new VIP Days in January so the income is from recurring revenue.

Assistant Coach

Total: $4,638

My fabulous coach, Abby, who is all my sister, works with our clients too, under my business’ umbrella. This income is for clients she works with exclusively/ with me. It’s such a win-win as we’re able to help people not quite ready for my Mastermind, but still wanting more support than a course alone.

Expenses

I’ve decided not to share a full breakdown of my business expenses because I don’t think it’s as helpful as people assume it’d be. I very much value transparency and want to be an honest look inside a business that I often found myself looking for long the way. Which is why I wanted to start publishing these!

However, profit margins SHOULD vary so much with each business, which is why I don’t want to anyone to compare theirs to mine.

For one, I live in New York City, paying some of the highest taxes in the country. I’ve set my business up to take this into consideration. If I lived in Florida, a state with no state income tax, I’d think of my profit margin entirely differently.

Additionally, your goal profit should take into consideration your current business goals. When I was dramatically scaling my business, I spent around 75% of my income BACK into my business, making my overall profit quite low. But I didn’t care, I wanted to grow quickly and my day-to-day expenses were relatively low as I didn’t have kids. Nowadays, growth at all costs is NOT the goal and my profit margin is much higher. But that’s the season I’m in.

That said, here are my biggest expenses:

  • Paid ads
  • Team
  • Business coaching
  • Experiences/ meals for the Christmas in NYC Retreat

Income Dip?!

Let’s talk about it 🙂

This was one of my lower-income months in a while. In 2024, I averaged $50K cash months, with some reaching $65K-$70K, while others hovered closer to $40K—like this one. I think it’s important to talk openly about income dips because they can bring up feelings of shame and comparison, even though they’re a completely normal part of business.

That said, I’m not concerned. Monthly fluctuations happen. And, a significant portion of January’s sales were on payment plans, which means while the total collected this month might be lower, it’s building my Monthly Recurring Revenue—arguably just as valuable, if not more.

Peaks and valleys are an inevitable part of business, especially as moms balancing the seasons of life and entrepreneurship.

That said, I also recognize that even in what I consider a “low” month, I still made nearly as much in a single month as I ever did in my 9-5 job. It’s not lost on me that this level of income—while being a stay-at-home mom to my two boys—is something I could have only dreamed of a few years ago. The fact that my “slow months” now surpass what I once considered a great salary is a perspective I hold with immense gratitude.

If this lower trend continues for about six months, I’ll take a critical look at what’s driving it. At that point, I’ll ask myself: Am I willing to do what it takes to increase my income right now? If the answer is yes, I’ll put strategies in place to do so. If not, I’ll adjust my expected monthly average.
